We are SOOOO excited to finally be writing this blog post!! It’s something we’ve been meaning to share for years and we finally found the time to do it.

We got married the summer of 2017, and decided on Greece on our honeymoon! Greece was our dream honeymoon destination, so we pulled out all of our favorite travel hacks to find cheap flights and make our dream happen! We actually wrote a blog post about how we consistently find super cheap flights so check that out here: How to Travel on A Budget!

Choosing exactly where in Greece was tough as there are so many amazing spots in both mainland Greece and on the Greek islands! We were originally thinking we would go to Athens, Santorini and Crete, but didn’t want to spend that much time traveling between spots! We read that Crete had the best beaches and food (if you know us you know that food is our #1 vacation priority!) so we settled on staying in Athens for a day, but spending most of our time in Crete! 

We spent our day in Athens exploring the Coliseum and the ruins! It was seriously so amazing to be walking through building that were thousands of years old! And then we spent the evening on a balcony overlooking the town square drinking sangria and eating the most delicious filo-fried honey feta! 

Then we hopped on a short flight to Crete and stayed in an AirBnb in the town Chania for the first half of our trip (CHANIA AIRBNB). Chania is a small city with both amazing restaurants and awesome culture, and was a great central spot to head out to the rest of the island to explore all the amazing beaches! And the food in Chania seriously DID NOT disappoint! Every restaurant had amazing seafood and traditional greek food, and after your meal each one gave you a complimentary shot of Ouzo and a small dessert based off each owners family recipe! Although we loved all the food, our FAVORITE spot was a small gyro spot off the main road in Chania! Once we discovered it we were there every single day! Best Gyros in Chania

For the second half of our trip we headed out of the city and to Balos Beach Hotel in Kissamos on the Western side of Crete! The hotel is on the side of a cliff with amazing ocean views, and is super close to the famous Balos Lagoon! We spent this half of the trip mostly relaxing by the pool and exploring the beaches on the West side of the island
